Busy. Busy. Busy.

Today I met with Cassy and Cheryl to find their dresses; seems simple, right? Wrong. What a long day. Granted it was amazing to spend a full day in the company of my two favorite girls, but what could have gone wrong, went wrong.

We started with the simple idea to meet at Ritche bridal in Toronto (half way between all of us both) we drive the 45minutes, find parking, pay the metre and walk the extra block in the freezing cold only to find a sign on the door saying the GTA's biggest dress selection is closed for the weekend, because they are hosting a massive sale 20 minutes away. Not a BIG deal, but why wasn't this on the website? Why is the only weekend we plan to get together the only weekend they're closed?!

We trudge back to our cars and head to the hotel (where the massive sale is). At first we walk in to nothing. Its eerily quiet and surprisingly creepy, like a masked man is going to jump from around the dark walls and chase us out. We try another door and BAM! WEDDING CHAOS!

Aisles and aisles of dresses, gowns and accessories. Its just like how the movies paint the picture of a sample sale. We looked lost and felt confused. So... we dove in.

We packed it in and headed to Yorkdale (a HUGE mall in north Toronto). We thought we might have better luck in a mall setting, with several retail stores on our must see list. We browsed through dozens of stores, but nothing leap off the page and most dresses were still in winter colours of black, blue and purple. That doesn't aid in our search for a green dress... or even a yellow dress.

We did find some of the grooms attire, the very tie Richard and I have been searching for for MONTHS! I got so excited that I scooped it up and order three more (in black) for the grooms men.

Yes, it seems simple, but after stopping in EVERY tie, suit or tuxedo store we still hadn't found a striped, white on white tie. We were even told we wouldn't find it... even the internet couldn't find it. So you can imagine my excitement when I found it!

We decided it was time to break for lunch. Shopping can really take it out of a girl! We stopped at The Pickle Barrel for lunch and dessert.

After 2 hours we left full, wired and determined to find the dresses. We had a game plan. We were going to try one more store on the way out (and Crate & Barrel, but that is unrelated ;) and then hopped in the car and headed to David's Bridal in Scarborough... about 30minutes east.

At this point we're exhausted, but nothing can dampen our spirits! We made it to David's Bridal and it was finally what we expected it to be. Aisles of dresses, every colour, cut and length. Weeeeee! We start pulling off the rack. 4 dresses. We head to the change room and then we found out there is a  'walk in' list A.K.A wait list. We had an hour to kill. We wandered to Winners. Fail. We wandered to Le Chateau. Fail. Even bigger fail, because there was the tie again, but $30 cheaper. Hmpf.

Finally back at Davids Bridal we wait... every time the PA clicked on we perked up to hear my name. Nothing. We wander around and around. Am I properly displaying my frustrating with all the waiting? Again, I loved the bonding time with the girls, but I am impatient. Finally we get paired up with a smelly attendant who proves to be useless and more concerned with bride next door. We took it upon ourselves and actually found the dress!

The catalogue picture... Cassy alluded the camera!
Cheryl is mid protest 'don't take a picture'

The colour of the dress changed and the girls will be wearing yellow. I love yellow and it makes a stunning accent colour. Most of the greens available were mint, puke or forest. No lime green in the house. So we decided on yellow which worked out well with both skin tones and a dress that worked out well with both body types... and it has pockets!! Yay!

We're likely going to order in February. We've got time and want to see the line of dresses (and colours) that come out late spring. I hear Lime Green is in this season and we might be able to find green dresses. If not, yellow it is.

Whewf! Long Day, Long post. Great day, Great Post? (hehe).

Thanks to Cheryl and Cassy for an amazing day out. The closer it gets the more excited I feel about everything and your enthusiasm just makes it that much sweeter.

Love!

PS - I didn't manage to get all of us in a picture, but luckily we will all be together again in 2 weeks for my Bridal shower!

It turned out to be all demo dresses and left overs. Nothing in the right size, nothing in pairs, nothing worth giving a second look.
