Another busy day of wedding stuff... Tonight was our menu tasting at Geraldo's. We headed over at 6 and found a busy room of brightly colours tables. Cocktails and apps were circulating and the room was filled with brides & grooms. We found a table at the front with 2 empty seats. At the table with us was a young couple, barely 22 and high school sweet hearts, a mature couple on their second marriage and an exotic couple that oozed passion. We shared details of our weddings, dates, dresses and colours.
We were the only ones going BRIGHT, we were also the only couple leaning away from traditional, which makes me very proud. I love how original our wedding is becoming and how different it is from the everyday. The other three couples at the table we're using black and purple.
At 7 they announced dinner and that's when things got confusing. It was set up as a buffet and you had your choice of everything, from both the GOLD package and the PLATINUM package. The choices were many and most were poorly labeled. I walked away with a plate of chicken... 7 different kinds of chicken all in a similar sauce. I had no idea what each of them were, although amazing none tasted as I expected and we picked beef, it surprised us both. Our main course is a AAA sirloin steak in mushroom gravy. It was incredible! I was a little disappointed with the chicken options, but thrilled with our choice.
We moved on to wine, my favorite. We stuck with the original choice of Merlot and Riesling.
Then dessert... Mmmm... I had apple crumble, chocolate torte, mousse cake and cheesecake. All were amazing, but I think we're going to go simple and stick to ice cream. We already have two amazing cakes coming to us for dessert.
It was a good night... it ended a little abruptly with Richard on night shift, but we made some solid choices and I can't wait to move forward with our venue.
We also got to see tables set up. None like ours, but a one had our napkins and another had our centre piece.
Whewf! That's a lot of info to throw at you and even more to throw at us, but its done and we're one step closer.
Woo!
