I am about as TomBoy as they get... I don't understand make-up, moisturizers and cleansers (I couldn't think of a third 'M' word... that is how little I know about this 'girl' world). I wash my face in the shower ,with soap and use the same moisturized from head to toe, when I remember. I don't wear make up. I don't blow-dry, curl or straighten... at least not properly, but with the wedding coming up I wanted to do something to offset my chances of a break out pre-wedding. The stress is enough to give a toddler a boil.
I thought about ProActiv, but I don't really have acne (touch wood) and the woman at the pavilion talked me right out of it (after 30 minutes on why her wedding was terrible and another 2o on how ProActiv has helped her (her face was blotchy and flakey) over the last 15 years) and scared me, because she said it would have to get worse before it could get better... and I don't have time for the worse.
I also wanted to book an appointment at Faces or Sephora for a Make-Up, Make-Over, but didn't want to go alone... nor could I find the time to go with someone. I am also completely blessed to be surrounded by a bunch of VERY talented girlie girls who have been more than generous with their time and offerings of help on the day, but I still have to cleanse the palette and buy the stuff I need.
Whewf... this is turning into quite the post!
So I wandered down to Shoppers Drugmart last night... its 20x the points in the cosmetic department and I thought it would be a great time to do a little shopping and this time when the cosmetic girl (who's name I forget) asked if I needed help I said 'YES!'. I spent an hour with V-something (let's just call her V) and learned about my skin, my tone and my needs. I didn't buy any make-up yet, because I am still in the early stages of tanning and hope for more colour before the wedding.
The funny part is she recommended (and I bought) anti-wrinkle, firming cream, toner and cleanser. Most people don't see the humor, but for me the reaction was 'I'm not THAT old'. To which V quickly said 'yes, you are.'
Ah!
It hasn't been long enough to see a difference, but my skin is softer. I also have little bitty tubes of 'serum' but I don't know what to do with them...
In 29 years I have never taken care of myself as well I have in the last 2 months. I like the want to take care of myself... I hope after the wedding it keeps up, but I can't wait to relax after the wedding and catch my breath, without having to do ANYTHING! (except make a baby... shhh!)
WHEWF! Planning a wedding is all about the process... its a learning experience and as much as I hate the stress... I love the process of growing up and feeling ready to be a wife.
Love!
